Weekly Update: Launch of McAfeeDex, Hydro partners with OmiseGo, Jarau’s Uptrennd success story, OST’s Pepo @DevCon5... – 4 Oct - 10 Oct'19

Weekly Update: Launch of McAfeeDex, Hydro partners with OmiseGo, Jarau’s Uptrennd success story, OST’s Pepo @DevCon5... – 4 Oct - 10 Oct'19
Sup folks! Here’s your week at Parachute + partners (4 Oct - 10 Oct'19):

First off, super congratulations to Alexis for becoming a Parachute admin. Woot woot! In the words of Cap: "Long overdue and much appreciated!". Doc Victor hosted a games trivia in Tiproom with 2500 $PAquestion prize. 10 questions. Charlotte’s Math and Voice Clip trivia in Tiproom were another 10 Qs each at 2500 $PAR per Q. Sweet. Ian got $PAR listed in the newly launched McAfeeDex (more on that later). Thank ya Ian! Cryptopreneurs looking for some guidance? Check out Cap’s recommended reading for the week – Haseeb Qureshi of Dragonfly Capital talks about how "pretty much everyone is winging it", how that's part of the journey and how to move from a maybe to a sure thing. Cap says the article “has a hundred powerful little points for building a company (in any space really) that resonate through what we do here at Parachute”. Great stuff! Parachute announced a partnership with Pynk this week. Pynk is an investment platform that uses crowd wisdom to make investment decisions. They will be using ParJar to share USDC and PAR with their community. Welcome on board Pynksters!
Cap, Ice and Shawn in NYC checking out the new WeWork office

View from the office
Victor’s 10 question Friday trivia at aXpire had a 100 $AXPR prize for each question. Neat! Click here to watch the latest weekly recap from aXpire. The new Resolvr promo video was launched. The Resolvr and Bilr twitter handles were started as well. This week’s $AXPR burn saw 200k tokens removed from total supply permanently. CEO Gary Markham was interviewed by PetaCrunch. 2gether’s Crypto Talent contest got coverage from Being Crypto. Founder Salvador recorded training videos for participants of the contest. The platform was featured in an article on Merca2. Spanish speakers, have a look! Emprende TVE did a quick mention, as the team bid farewell to South Summit and travelled to Freshworks Inc's Experience Roadshow. Read up on CEO Ramon’s thoughts on Facebook’s Libra in this Forbes article published this week. The XIO community voted to keep the twitter public in order to keep content available to non-citizens as well. As part of the Binance Dex listing proposal*, the team continued to answer queries raised by the BNB community. Great bit of chatter on the thread on how the XIO ecosystem will work. Andrew (cryptocoindude) wrote a review of the BOMB project which came out this week.
\[As already shared, the switch to Binance Chain has been shelved. $XIO will continue stay on Ethereum chain. But there will still be a token swap. Details will be shared in a future update]*
Bilr UX: simple and intuitive
The $ETHOS to $VGX rebrand requires collaboration from a large set of partners. In line with this, Shingo announced the Rebrand Partner Program. Plus, a shoutout to Voyager from Scott Melker in his CoinTelegraph article was the perfect way to cap off the week. SelfKey is officially out of beta with the latest update. You can read all about it in the detailed article on SelfKey v1.3.0. Also, a summary of all that has happened in September can be found here. We have covered most of these in previous updates. John McAfee launched his self branded decentralised exchange McAfeeDex. This is the first white label Dex built on the SwitchDex contract. Massive! The news was featured on CoinTelegraph, Decrypt, Bitcoin.com, AMBCrypto, Bitcoinist, Block Publisher, Coinspeaker and U.Today. Here’s a guide on how to use the Dex. The smart contract and front end is open sourced and there are bounties to BUIDL more fun stuff on it. Listing any ERC20 on the McAfeeDex is free and the Dex will support more blockchains in the future. SwitchDex will also be offering anyone the chance to launch their own Dex’es called portals built on their smart contract. Click here to see how. Platform fees from McAfeeDex will be distributed to exchange operators and ESH and SDEX token holders. Want to spend a day with the man himself? Get in on the ESH Trading Competition! Also, the social media bounties were distributed this week.
McAfeeDex vs Others. Check the last row. Haha
For the technically inclined, Andre Cronje’s latest post explains Fantom’s current project status. A community member got Uptrennd’s $1UP token listed on McAfeeDex. Uptrennd underwent some upgrades this week while the community partied on Meme Monday. $1UP deposits are now live on the platform. Plus, a few other updates can be seen here. There’s also a post to read all the details on the deposit feature. Along with the consistent rise in Alexa rankings, Google ranking has steadily gone up as well. Congrats! Here’s looking at you Uptrennd crew! Amazing crypto success story of the week has to be Jarau’s journey of buying a laptop with his earned points on the platform. Even Altcoin Magazine featured this. Big up to ya Jarau! Catch up with the latest District Weekly from District0x by clicking here. Hydro entered into a partnership with OmiseGo to make use of their plasma chain tech so that Hydro Pay doesn’t stall even when Ethereum chain slows down. Biz Dev Mark Anstead was also in DevCon5 in Osaka this week to spread the word on Hydro and to demo OmiseGo’s plasma implementation in Hydro Pay at $OMG’s booth. As the Hydro crew prepared for their webinar on financial wellness to be held in a few weeks, their article on this hit the stands. Co-Founder Mike Kane also wrote about its use-cases and about accelerating of fintech innovation in an Oracle blog post. This week we got to see another sneak peek into the Hydro Vault which is currently under development. Super slick! KPMG Turkey became a certified member of the Hydro Partner Program. This will allow them to offer all Hydrogen solutions to their enterprise clients. Noice!
Hydro Vault is sure to grab some major eyeballs
As part of its Notary Consilium, Silent Notary set up a dedicated Telegram group for this. In the run up to DevCon5 at Osaka, beta testing of OST’s Pepo app saw it become the #1 non-game Ethereum dApp. Awesomeness! The formal live beta launch of Pepo saw founder Jason Goldberg and co-founder Benjamin Bollen introduce the app for the first time at Building the New Web and EthPlanet Lightning Talks events to DevCon5 attendees. Don’t forget to get the app today in order to catch your favourite crypto thought leader on there – from Bobby Ong to Amanda Gutterman to Jordan Spence and many more. The launch of Pepo was also covered by Decrypt in a feature article. Click here for pics from the Pepo sponsored Shabu Shabu dinner and pub crawl. Fun! And if you were in Osaka, hope you didn’t miss the Crypto Grows on Trees art exhibition. Another event sponsored by Pepo. Also, Pepo stats can be tracked on the OSTWatch as well. This week at Constellation involved the core team sharing insights about the project on various platforms. Co-Founder Ben Jorgensen shared some quick thoughts on how the team works on BizDev that makes it stand out from the rest. BD VP Benjamin Diggles travelled to Oregon Venture Blockchain Studio Demo Day to talk about $DAG. Read up on VP of Finance Mathis Goldmann's thoughts on Constellation's role in the future of blockchain - "The solution to this issue (of scalability) is third generation horizontally scalable blockchains like Constellation…". Ben’s interview with FomoHunt had a few easter eggs (*cough partnerships *cough) peppered in between. The Daily Chain covered the project in a detailed feature. Tons of $BAGS tokens were given away this week in a community-based SWOT analysis sprint on the project. Also, here’s a call-to-action for content creators. BAGS is looking for you. Collab opportunity FTW!

And with that, it’s a wrap. See you again soon with another exciting update. Bye!

Freelancing guide for beginners in Venezuela(Without Programming Skillls) / Guía de Freelance para principiantes en Venezuela (Sin conocimiento de programación)

Hello reddit! My name is LinkToU, and i’ve been commissioned by u/justgord to share some of my freelancing experience, living in Venezuela. It might not be much, but hopefully it'll help some people get started.
I’ve seen countless numbers of posts here in this subreddit, asking for advice on how to get started, and what are the best ways to receive money, so those are topics i’ll be touching upon in this guide.
As the title says, this is a guide that requires NO programming skills, this is meant to be a guide towards beginners, and people that are having a rough time, like i was, two and a half years ago, before getting into this.

First of all, i recommend reading this guide through google docs, because i'm not too familiar with reddit's formatting, and i think this version just looks better: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DotVUAtEAUXfgTAhDZtmylTzA4nImhoAGZCI-8XdKtM/edit?usp=sharing
Spanish version: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13DNEyyF7F-fXjpA1AplGqQjVh0H_LWd0cCjoKdZzQm4/edit?usp=sharing

VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL DE LA GUÍA A MITAD DEL POST

Now, without further ado, let’s dive right into this.

What type of work can you expect to find?
There are actually a few types of jobs that you can easily find without any specific skill, for example, translations, lead generation, data entry, transcriptions, writing articles, and even being a virtual assistant. This list could go on and on, but i’ll just give you a couple websites where you can find these types of work, and you can go figure out what’s best for you.

Where to find work?
Most of the freelance work i've done it's been through two major websites, so i'll talk a little bit about them and about my experience with each.

Spare5 (https://app.spare5.com/) is the crowdworking website that got me into this, . This is basically a crowdworking website where you’ll be reviewing different images, annotating and drawing different polygons to help train AI to identify everyday objects.
Getting started in this page is the hardest part, but i’d say it’s just as hard as it was back in 2017 when i started.
You’ll first have to complete every tutorial, then move on to the qualifiers and onto paid tasks (be sure that you understand every task before diving into them, because if you don’t perform well on your paid tasks, they’ll be taken away from you, and you might even get permanently banned).
The minimum payment is $1, and the payment method that they use is PayPal, you don’t need to have a verified Paypal account, and you WILL NOT get your account limited by just receiving money from this page.
Like i said, the hardest part of this page is to get started, as tasks will be scarce, so try not to make any mistakes, and do every task as best as you can, this will guarantee that they give you even more tasks, and eventually, you’ll be assigned permanent tasks, and your dashboard will look something like this: https://imgur.com/a/TSUASME , as you notice, the payment for each task is really low but don’t get discouraged, you’ll want to find one that is easy to do, and that you can memorize the instructions, i’ve made up to $20 in just a couple of hours, out of easy tasks that paid 0.2c each. Of course, you’ll need practice, Practice makes perfect.
I have NOT been working on this page lately, because the payment per tasks has been diminished, and tasks only get more and more complicated to complete.

Next, is Reddit, more specifically, the subreddit where i’ve found most of my freelancing jobs, is /slavelabour , where people post any kind of job that they need done (Seriously, any, i’ve seen many kinds of crazy stuff going on there), along with a payment offer, and usually a method.
This one is pretty good, since you can find different kinds of work based on your skills, i’ve mostly done data entry types of jobs there, but there are many others easy for beginners, you just have to keep an eye out for when any potential job gets posted.
Other similar subreddits that i frequent, but aren’t as active as /slavelabour are: /Jobs4Bitcoins/ , /WorkOnline/ /ForHire/ Follow the same advice that i will give for /slavelabour , as these work similarly.

Those are the main two websites where i've worked at for the past two years, there are some others that i know of, but since i haven't used them, i don't know how they work.

Now, let's talk a little bit about payment methods, and what are some good options for receiving your money once you've got yourself some gigs.

Payment methods:
Now that you know what are some good places to get started, let's talk about what's the best place to receive your payments, and keep your money safe. I’ll take about the few methods that i’ve used myself, such as PayPal, Uphold, AirTM, and most recently, Cryptos.

Where to receive your payments?

Uphold is another cloud based financial services platform, similar to PayPal, and with similar fees. The good thing about this platform, is that you can exchange your funds from USD to Crypto, and many other currencies, at the cost of a relatively small fee.
I haven’t used this method too much myself, as i used this mainly for it’s Virtual Credit Card feature, which is temporarily not available.

AirTM is an e-wallet where you can keep your money, and exchange it to other currency, or buy USD with your local money, all in the same platform.
Out of all the options i'm going to list for payment methods, this is my least favorite, as the fees are incredibly high, and in my opinion, what this website provides isn't worth it.
I haven’t had much experience with AirTM, as the fees are ridiculous, but i’ve used it and i’ll share my experiences.

Finally, Cryptocurrencies, i’ve only started using this method recently, and i can already say, this is my favorite so far, and the method i’ll mainly use from now onwards, as this has proven to be really easy to set up, and in my opinion, the best option for receiving payments, as you’ll pay minimum fees for your transactions, keep your identity safe, and the exchange rate to Venezuela’s currency is really good.
I’d say there is no downside to receiving your payments here, as even if you were worried by the Crypto’s price dropping, you could easily use a third party website to exchange your Crypto, to USD in any other platform you’d like.
The cryptocurrencies that i’ve used are Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), all of the transactions that i’ve done haven’t taken longer than 30 minutes, with the exception of using SideshiftAI to exchange my BCH into BTC, which took about an hour. Setting up a wallet for these is rather easy, however here’s a quick guide for BTC and BCH. https://bitcoin.org/en/getting-started .
Also, another point in Crypto’s favor, is that some stores have begun accepting cryptos as a payment method, there’s an app in the Google Play Store named “CryptoLugaresVE” With a list of places accepting crypto as a payment method.

Finally, i’ll talk a little bit about the couple websites that you can use to safely exchange money from USD, to Venezuela’s currency. Other than these, you’d have to find someone of your trust to exchange your currency.

Where to safely exchange your earnings to Venezuela’s currency?

That’s it for now, I’ll probably update the guide as i learn more and try out new stuff, as well as with your feedback. I just want to thank u/justgord for giving me the opportunity to share all of this with you guys!

Hola Reddit!

Did you know, you can build your own cryptocurrency exchange, without even having to know anything about coding, that too in just 2 minutes? You can now monetise from your own crypto audience at no additional cost. Read below
You can monetise your crypto audience by launching your own customised crypto exchange, just by following some simple steps, with zero coding knowledge. This product of CoinSwitch is mainly aimed at marketers like YouTubers, Redditors, bloggers, etc., who have their own community and they want their community to trade on their own exchange.
The best part is that you can earn 50% of our revenue received through this custom exchange. This will give you a brief idea on how to start a Bitcoin exchange business.
The setup is pretty simple, where you can link your website to the personalized domain for converting the cryptocurrencies directly from the website. Create your own instant customized exchange by going here.

Let us take you through the steps, which will tell you how to build a cryptocurrency exchange website:

Step 1: Start

You have to enter your own domain, which you own, and want to link the custom domain, then you need to add your official email id, which will be used for further communication and helping in the setup.
Once you click on “Show advanced settings”, you can upload your logo and add the background image, which is completely optional.
You can even add your Bitcoin payout address if you want to let us know where you want to receive the payout for the referral.

Step 2: Configure

After that, click on save and continue, you need to move to the configuration part. Here, you need to select the source coin and the destination coin amongst the list of 300+ coins.
For instance, if you want all of your payments to be received in Ethereum, you have to check the “All box” in the source coin, and the destination coin should be chosen as Ethereum.

Step 3: Launch

Once you save and continue, the last and the most critical step happens. You need to add the CNAME record for your domain DNS. It generally takes a few minutes for the custom exchange to go live.
Your instant exchange is almost ready!
Just make sure that the “Traffic through Cloudflare” is unchecked when you add the CNAME.

Custom Exchange Partners

We already have more than 700 partners using the Custom Exchange. Most of the reputed YouTubers and bloggers are using our custom crypto exchange, some of which are- Komodo, CriptoMondeas, Keith Wareing, Skycoin, etc.
For instance, if you go to CriptoMondeas’ YouTube channel, and go to any video, you will get the URL that takes you to the custom instant page, wherein you can view the overall cryptocurrency exchange architecture. Similarly, for Komodo, you can go here. There are numerous examples like this, which you can find on the CoinSwitch page.
If you have any queries, you can reach out to the CoinSwitch Customer support team, which is 24/7 active.

Weekly Update: ParJar on Product Hunt, BOMB Board, ETHOS on Voyager, 10k+ Users on Uptrennd... – 13 Sep - 19 Sep'19
Hi Parachuters! Here’s your week at Parachute + partners (13 Sep - 19 Sep'19):

In a first for ParJar, Arena Match (whose token $AMGO was listed last week) conducted its airdrop distribution through ParJar on Telegram. So if you signed up for the airdrop, you will find your ParJar account already prefilled with 50 $AMGO tokens. A ton of new users got $AMGO dropped to their ParJar wallets. That was quick! Doc Victor hosted a medical quiz in TTR this week. 15 questions, 24k $PAR in prizes. Boom! The PARroundings photo contest started by Luis last week in TTR saw some epic entries. Rika, Syndrome Error and Mery’s pics were adjudged winners. Check out the video compilation made by Sebastian and the top 7 entries. All of these are rad. Parachuters are everywhere. And so is $PAR!
PAR sightings in Bali, Java, Peru
This week, GC started a Big Brother mini-contest and opened it up for everyone. BB fans who missed out on signing up for the contest back in June got their chance to get into the mini version. And don’t forget to keep brainstorming on the Parachute Partner Treasure Hunt started last week. Jordy (from Sentivate) shared that only one person had so far been able to receive the SNTVT puzzle piece. Crypto treasure worth USD 2,000 waiting to be unearthed. Go get it! Click here for all the starting branches of the treasure hunt. As Parachute continues to work on #cryptoforeveryone, the team unveiled ParJar to the Product Hunt community to “to start hooking up people with their first crypto”. Saweet! And thanks a million for the shoutout $BOMB Squad. You guys are gems. The #PAR4PAR contest entered stage 3. The stakes are higher than before. 150k $PAR to be won. Say what!
A week at Parachute is incomplete without food and beer pics from Gian
BOMBX will start a podcast featuring early stage blockchain startup founders. If you have an entrepreneur in mind whom you would like to be interviewed, let the team know. After creating the award winning BOMB artpiece in February, Corrosive Creations is back with another masterpiece. This time for BOMBX. Neat! In this week’s community discussions, Dash talks about XIO’s anti-ICO model (which could be a possible revenue stream for incubated startups). Feedback from the community suggested that this particular branding (anti-ICO) may not work going forward. But the concept seemed to stick. It is like a “zero-risk crowdfunding system”. Another topic of contention was what portion of native tokens should a team keep for themselves. We also got a quick preview into the timeline progress of XIO including a sneak peek into the roadmap (“XIO Atlas”; Big up to Prince Ulrich for an epic name). The $XIO ERC20:BEP2 bridge testnet trials have been successful. What remains is the application to list on Binance Dex for review by the Binance community. As announced last week, a BOMB Board has been set up which will be a "community-led strategic planning team dedicated to growing the BOMB project".
First look at XIO Atlas (Work-In-Progress version)
Rohit and my article for aXpire on how crypto payment platforms like PayBX compare to permissioned gateways was published. Week 37 recap video for aXpire and the cryptosphere in general can be watched here. Another episode of the Blockchain for Good video series was released this week as well. This episode featured The Pineapple Fund which was a philanthropic initiative by an anonymous benefactor that saw 5k+ $BTC given away to various charities in five months. Another 20k $AXPR burned in the latest weekly burn. 2gether, in partnership with IEB Spain, launched the first edition of a blockchain and tokenization based contest named Crypto Talent. The contest is open for students and professionals. Birdchain’s August update was released this week as well. Full release of the app (with the SMS feature) is pending for approval from app store. The OST team was in Tel Aviv this week to speak on the Pepo app and Ethereum scaling solutions. To see the slides and video from the presentation, click here and here respectively. OSTWatch is an independent $OST tracker built by community member Samuual which now shows recent token-related events as well. Devs building on the OST platform are also rewarded handsomely for their contribution to the project. So get BUIDLing! OST backed LGBT tokens now have 3k holders thanks to the Hornet app going into Phase II rollout. That is awesome! Remember CEO Jason’s tweet thread master class on session keys? Here’s an article that explains it in more detail.
Snapshot of the OSTWatch Mainnet metrics
ETHOS tokens can now be deposited and withdrawn from the Voyager platform. Hope you took out time this week to check out the Memes contest in the Uptrennd Telegram. Lolarious memes and a ton of $1UPs given out. Remember we had shared in a past update that the platform is projected to hit a few milestones this month? Well, it happened as per expected timeline. Uptrennd got to 10k+ users and a 100k+ Alexa ranking this week. Congratulations! As mentioned in the last post, Hydro travelled to the FinnoSummit in Mexico City where Co-Founder Mike Kane was a speaker. Click here and here for pics from the event. Founder Matthew Kane was at the Oracle Open World this week and shared an overview on Open Banking. Want to use test out dApps in the Rinkeby Testnet using test Ethereum? Click here to know how. And, here’s a quick write-up from the Hydro team on the best practices of dApp development. Did you know that former CEO of Sanrio (of Hello Kitty fame), Ray Rehito Hatoyama was a Constellation advisor? Here’s his full interview with Co-Founder Benjamin Jorgensen. The DAG community is always BUIDLing cool things around Constellation. For example, check out the early look below of the mainnet wallet being built by community member Vito. Plus, a quick recap of last week at Constellation was published. The project also got into a media partnership with FomoHunt that will see, among other things, $DAG being integrated as a payment option on their platform.
Vito’s mainnet $DAG wallet sneak peek is a piece of art
Arena Match community voted to decide on which exchange to pursue for a listing. DDEX won the public vote. $AMGO deposits went live on Arena Match Beta version 0.5.0 this week. They announced a partnership with Space Misfits, the "world’s first Blockchain space MMO". Arena Match also won a public vote to get reviewed by the Uptrennd team for free. Woot woot! The revamped SwitchDex went live this week. To mark the occasion, Switch hosted a social media bounty for some cool $ESH. John McAfee is a long time supporter of the SwitchDex and talked about it in his interview with Dean Pappas. Catch up on the latest at Disctrict0x from the District Weekly and Dev Update – an explainer video for District Registry is being worked on, Ethlance front end is in finalisation stage etc. Silent Notary’s LAW token presale started this week. Plus, they hosted a referral bonus through their partner bot for 10k LAW tokens per referral. Details of the newest tokenomics of Mycro’s $MYO token came out this week. SelfKey got nominated for Disruptor Daily’s first ever Blockchain Identity Management Use Case Award. Neat! 20 new jurisdictions were added to the Bank Accounts Marketplace. In this week’s educational posts from the SelfKey, we learn about the history of crypto exchange hacks and how to prevent identity theft.

And with that, we close for this week at Parachuteverse. See you again soon with another update. Cheers!

In fact the number of bech32 transactions increased 100–200%.” Regarding the view, Luke Dashjr commented that spammers are abusing SegWit’s block size increase to gain an advantage over legit Bitcoin users. The BTC shock retreated yesterday to date and is currently hovering around $10,200. In the past 24 hours, the net outflow of BTC funds exceeded $150 million. Compared with last week, the outflow level of market funds increased again. In recent days, BTC has continued to oscillate downward, but the overall fluctuation range is not large. The medium-term trend is still unclear. Before that, there was little space above BTC, and it is expected that in the short term, the adjustment will still be dominated by shocks. Investors can consider investing part of their funds in other mainstream currencies or even in the Shanzhai currency market. If there is a large scale of callback in the follow-up, it may bring a good opportunity to build warehouses. The upper resistance level pays attention to $10,800, while the lower support level continues to pay attention to the $10,000 level. Operational aspects, the spot continues to hold, low replenishment strategy unchanged, under $10,000 can be considered gradually deployed futures leverage.

Bitcoin slipped below $10,000 on Thursday after the Federal Reserve cut benchmark lending rates by 25 basis points.
The BTC/USD instrument settled a new session low towards $9,585.86 on San Francisco-based Coinbase exchange. That brought the pair’s week-to-date losses close to 7 percent.
The move downhill occurred despite the presence of so-called bullish catalysts, mainly the recent drone attacks on Saudi Arabia oil production facilities that choked the world’s oil supply by 5 percent. The latest rate cut announcement and its immediate impact on bitcoin are reminiscent of how investors are not treating the cryptocurrency bitcoin as a safe-haven asset in the times of macroeconomic and geopolitical crisis.
Bulls, nevertheless, see bitcoin at new highs in the coming times. According to Arthur Hayes, the CEO & co-founder of controversial crypto-derivatives exchange BitMEX, bitcoin would surge to $20,000 after taking cues from the Fed’s dovish sentiment.

The future pattern will be a large blockchain system, with many small blockchains. There are many large enterprises entering the blockchain field, building more cooperative relationships.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading up 2.8% at its current price of $10,190, which marks a decent surge from its daily lows of $9,900, but also marks a slight retrace from its daily highs of over $10,400.
This recent price action simple marks an extension of the narrowing trading range that Bitcoin has been caught in within the past couple of months, with BTC trading between the lower-$9,000 region and the upper-$10,000 region.
During this time, Bitcoin’s hash rate has been climbing significantly, and just set fresh all-time-highs earlier this week. Hash rate is a key indicator that elucidates the fundamental strength of Bitcoin, and its steady rise throughout 2019 signals that Bitcoin’s network is incredibly strong at the moment, in spite of its recent sideways price action.

45 Bitcoin Miners Consumed Electricity More Than 3 Regions Of Kyrgyzstan Combined There is no such concept as cryptocurrency miner in Kyrgyz laws, said Chief of the National Energy Holding Company of Kyrgyzstan Aitmamat Nazarov in response to MP’s question if mining companies and Bitcoins were legal in Kyrgyzstan. “We don’t provide electricity designated specially for cryptocurrency miner companies. It was revealed that 45 mining companies consumed 136 MW of electricity and we had to cut off power to them, because they consumed more than 3 regions of Kyrgyzstan — Issyk-Kul, Talas and Naryn — consumed together,” Nazarov said.

BTC fell nearly $9,600 yesterday to date, then stopped falling and rebounded, and has now returned to the vicinity of $10,300. In the past 24 hours, the net inflows of BTC funds approached US$200 million. Compared with the previous cycle, the market inflows increased rapidly. We mentioned earlier that the main force is likely to wash dishes in the near future. Obviously, the main force finally did something yesterday, but the strength and speed of washing dishes are faster than expected. At present, the view of the medium-term bull trend remains unchanged, with the lower support focusing on the vicinity of $10,000 and then $9,600. In terms of operation, continue to attract funds at low prices, and stop loss should not be considered for the time being before breaking through the triangle area.

Daimler Carries Out First Transaction On Marco Polo Blockchain Trade Network Automaker Daimler has carried out its first transaction on the blockchain-based Marco Polo trade finance network. The pilot commercial trade transaction saw the firm — which owns Mercedes-Benz among other brands — process the data required to exchange payments with engineering firm and parts builder Dürr, according to a press release sent to CoinDesk on Wednesday (Sept 25). German bank Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) was also involved in the trade.
Monero Protocol Upgrade Is Scheduled On November 30 According to AMBCrypto, Monero has caught the attention of the crypto-community for its upgrade towards the end of the year. The protocol upgrade will be carried out to improve Monero’s existing offerings. This upgrade will include freezing of code, which means that no further changes can be done from the developers’ end. There will be a network upgrade too. In order to enjoy the latest features after the update, users will be required to upgrade their systems to CLI v0.15 or GUI v0.15. Along with these minor upgrades, there is a significant number of major changes. A tentative schedule for the proposed upgrade was decided to take effect on 30 November.
SEC Officials Would Consider To Creating Some Safe Harbour For Cryptos In a congress hearing on Sept 24 with SEC, a representative for North Carolina Patrick McHenry asked SEC chairman Clayton if he believes Libra is security. Clayton said that he was not prepared to make a decision. “We have to see how different assets function, to decide whether they would be a security, a commodity or a currency. But if what you are doing is using a digital asset to raise capital for a project with the idea that you are going to get a return as a result of investing in that project, sounds like security.” Mr.McHenry also expressed concerns that “too onerous regulation would drive off innovation from the US and the upside potential for investors.” SEC Commissioner Peirce thinks the SEC still has work to do to make sure that people can develop digital assets in the US in compliance with the SEC rules. “I would like to see us be a little bit more forward-thinking in ways that we might accommodate unique aspects of digital assets. For example, as digital assets that are utility tokens, I don’t know that the securities law framework that we have right now is an appropriate framework for them and so I’d like to see us think about creating some kind of a safe harbour,” said Peirce. Peirce stressed the idea is to allow is their current law for that SEC to write rigs around them and SEC has the authority that could allow the regulators to do that.

Yesterday, we saw a breakdown in bitcoin below the $10,000 support area against the US Dollar. The price remained in a bearish zone and broke many supports near $9,800 and $9,500. Moreover, there was a break below the $9,000 support and the 100 hourly simple moving average. Finally, the price traded close to the $8,000 level and registered a nasty decline. A low was formed near $8,055 and the price is currently correcting higher.
There was a break above the $8,250 and $8,400 levels. Moreover, the price traded above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $9,779 high to $8,055 low. However, the $8,750 level is acting as a strong resistance. The next resistance is near the $8,920 level. It coincides with the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $9,779 high to $8,055 low.
If there is an upside break above $9,000, the price could recover towards the $9,400 and $9,500 resistance levels. Additionally, there is a crucial bearish trend line forming with resistance near $9,500 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. An intermediate resistance is near $9,120 and the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $9,779 high to $8,055 low.
On the other hand, if the price continues to struggle near $8,750 and $9,000, it could resume its decline. An immediate support is near the $8,400 level, below which it could test $8,250. If the bears remain in action, there is a chances of a break below $8,000. The next major support is near the $7,500 level.

Decred Journal — April 2018

This post covers what happened in Decred last month. Let's get down to business and have About section at the end.

Development

Wallet and node software version 1.2.0 has been released. Decrediton wallet highlights: improved startup experience, redesigned overview page, added basic graphs to visualize statistics and an export to CSV (helpful for tax reporting). dcrd node software highlights: significantly faster startup and compact filters to support light clients. See full release notes and downloads here, for Decrediton use 1.2.1 bugfix release.
The release process has been improved. Instead of announcing a release date and trying to meet it, a Release Candidate 1 (RC1) will now be posted. After it has been tested an bugfixed with the help of the community, a second candidate (RC2) will be released. This is repeated until an RC version with no apparent bugs becomes the final release. The new process removes a ton of pressure from developers and users and gives more time for testing. As our primary consumer-facing product, Decrediton, is growing in features and complexity, more testing will be required for new releases.
Politeia is "Getting close to a public beta of voting" (slack). Decred plugin merged, paywall and voting are in the testing stage. Ticket voting works on testnet via CLI.
Trezor support got closer as Decred patch was merged. Please note this is only firmware support, to be usable it also needs wallet integration.
WooCommerce Decred plugin alpha version is ready for testing.
Decred.org received a new sleek exchanges page.
The contributors page has been updated to add 10 new faces. Some of them are new to the project but others have been contributing for a while.
Dev activity stats for April: 152 active PRs, 125 commits, 21,656 added and 10,288 deleted lines spread across 7 repositories done by 2-7 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: April started at 2.0-2.7 PH/s range and seen a general increase with some big fluctuations between lows at 2.2 and new all time high above 5.2 PH/s.
Nodes: there are 200 public listening and 500 normal nodes per dcred.eu as of May 1. 169 nodes already upgraded to version 1.2.0. Some 30 nodes were observed to be testing Release Candidate versions before the final release.
Ticket price 30-day average has seen a steady rise to 87.5 DCR. Stake participation is solid 46.1% with 3.53 million DCR as of May 1.

ASICs

Updates from Obelisk's Taek:
We got results back. They are more or less on line with the simulations I didn't realize this, but we don't get the real chips back for 3 more weeks. The ones we've been testing are hacked together into a DIP package (they are BGA chips) that really screws up the results There's a decent chance that the full bga chips perform better For the time being though, we're pretty much on track for the hashrates estimated on the website (slack, Apr 12)
And regarding the June delivery date:
We're still on track for batch 1. We've ordered most of the parts we'll need, including the chips. We've got working chips, we've got test boards, test units, test everything. We've signed manufacturers to produce everything. Obelisk is going strong. (reddit, Apr 23)
We are thankful for his updates in our #pow-mining channel and hope other ASIC manufacturers will also join.
Fellow Sia miners are discussing the design of Obelisk SC1 case.
Halong: B29 units are shipping. The amount of units in first batch was estimated 450-600 by our community member. Review of DragonMint B29 published, people are discussing shipping and running the miners.
By surprise, Innosilicon announced the sale of D9 DecredMaster ASIC miner with specs identical to Halong B29 while being much cheaper ($6800 Inno vs $10499 Halong). Expected shipping date of the first batch is April 28-30. The company is active on their bitcointalk thread, also see our reddit.
Just 9 days later Innosilicon announced second batch with delivery on May 7-11 and same price of $6800. (reddit)

Integrations

Decred's Brazilian community made good progress with integrations this month.
emiliomann: On April 2nd @Rhama will launch the first BR exchange of altcoins with fiat market and totally within the laws of the Brazilian government. Decred will have the two markets DCBTC and DCBRL. It’s very difficult to fulfill all the legal requirements and get authorization to work with FIAT here.
The exchange turned out to be Profitfy. Profity is innovating by using dcrtime for their blockchain ID login via Original My. Great to see this deeper engagement with the tools that Decred provides, and not a surprise that it comes from @Rhama, who has been a community member since day one.
This seems to have spurred another exchange, Braziliex, to bring forward their launch of DCBRL and DCBTC pairs, coming just 2 hours after Profitfy launched.
Not stopping there,
emiliomann: Hey guys, this is a poll of the biggest Bitcoin exchange in Brazil that is planning to open altcoins markets. Please, help the Brazilian community by voting for Decred! Just one click. Thank you! https://twitter.com/mercadobitcoin/status/981602483268194307
Finally,
viniciusfrias: We're excited to announce PagueCripto.com, a Brazilian crypto-to-fiat payment gateway which accepts Decred among other cryptocurrencies for Brazilians to pay daily bills, such as credit cards, energy, rent, etc, and also to make local bank transfers. Our service is both a web platform and an Android app, and as our community is relevant in Brazil, we are offering a discount coupon (50%) in service fees using DCR until May 14, 2018. Check it out at paguecripto.com and in Google Play Store. (slack)
Moving to other countries, good news from Canada:
michae2xl: Decred is now available on @ezBtcCanada, an exchange with DCCAD trading pair. From Toronto – ezbtc.ca
i2Rav announced i2trading.com, a new trading desk that will be offering DCEUR pair:
Eventually we hope to offer the pair in GBP and YEN as well
changenow.io, a non-custodian exchange for fast conversions, added DCR.
You can see all exchanges known to support Decred in a spreadsheet maintained by snr01. Many of them are missing from coinmarketcap.

Adoption

The Crypto Lawyers, LLP, a crypto exclusive U.S. law firm began accepting Decred (reddit):
RAurelius: I think that a law firm accepting Decred is a worthy distinction from other previously publicized companies that accept Decred for typical consumer products. Legal services are severely lacking in the Crypto-sphere, so the publicity is good for everyone in this arena.
Great to see business owners reaching us directly in chat.
VotoLegal is migrating from Ethereum to Decred blockchain:
emiliomann: VotoLegal, a Brazilian project that uses blockchain technology to allow election campaign funding to be transparent and that all transactions conducted are tracked and made available to the citizens, now uses dcrtime and Decred blockchain. https://twitter.com/decred_bstatus/986610826051276800 (slack)

Partnerships

YBF Ventures and Decred announced partnership in building a blockchain-focused development and business hub in Australia.
With the YBF Ventures partnership, Decred hopes to grow their Australian contractor network and scale their operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region. (btcmanager.com)
We specifically chose Decred for a more robust corporate partnership, and it is the first time that a decentralised autonomous organisation is partnering with a ‘traditional’ organisation in such a capacity. (ybfventures.com)

Marketing

Dustorf joined on the marketing front and is conducting a brand discovery analysis:
Decred is soliciting the input of our user community. In order to better understand you, what you think of Decred, and where you would like it to focus its efforts, we've come up with a short (4 minute) survey. Your input of all varieties is most appreciated https://www.surveymonkey.com/2LHK3FV
April targeted advertising report released (previous March report here). Reach @timhebel for full version.
The iconic "Not Overly Scammy" t-shirt by cryptograffiti is available for purchase. For those wondering, the meme originates from @fluffypony.
Some hilarious promos by @jackliv3r: one two three.

Community Discussions

Reddit highlights: A debate on Decred protocol security and attack cost, a comparison of expected and actual block production times, a write-up on distribution of powers and how Monero could benefit from a PoS governance layer, two other threads on ASIC resistance, and one discussing different types of decentralization.
Very thoughtful discussion on whether it is appropriate to use half naked photos in marketing, followed by meta-discussion how to handle very polarizing issues and unwanted contributions to the marketing efforts of a decentralized project. (slack, continued)
A new #governance channel was created to discuss governance in Decred and other projects.
politeia subreddit was recovered for Decred community. Thanks to Tivra for filing the request. Politeia can bring a lot of value outside Decred so it well deserves its own sub.
A new Slack invite page has been setup and onboarded 40 people in 48 hours.
Decred StackExchange site proposal was closed due to inactivity in a 7 day period, according to Area 51 rules.

Markets

In April Decred showed a confident recovery after previous months. DCUSD moved from below $40 to nearly $90 and the more liquid DCBTC from 0.0058 to 0.0093.
OOOBTC showed unexpectedly huge DCR trading volume of $19 m on April 10 (reddit), it went back to normal 2 weeks later.
On April 25 a wild rush took the price from 0.00777 to 0.0177 BTC in under 30 minutes on Poloniex, setting a new USD all time high of ~$165 ($141 world average). Prices on other exchanges followed to a lesser degree. Possible causes were discussed on reddit. Talking about all time highs, an indicator tracking difference between ATH and current price shows Decred is competitive at retaining USD value.

Relevant External

Bittrex finally opened registrations again.
ASIC debates are raging after Bitmain stealth-launched ASICs for Sia, Monero and Ethereum. Most opinions reflect on whether and how to resist ASICs, but some are recognizing the Decred way, like this excellent piece.
The importance of governance is gaining recognition as well. One notable example is Mike Hearn's AMA where it was a hot topic.

About This Issue

This project was motivated by the desire to expose just how much is happening in Decred and save the time for people unable to actively follow our channels. It aims to cover all relevant developments with a short description and links to read further. It shows the depth of the project and the involvement of the community. We also plan to launch a newsletter and consider a shorter version if there is such a demand.
